updating his Aunt Lisa regularly. We are very sad to have him go but it will be the best thing for him. We WUV YOU HAYDEN!!

This is Wittle Hayden!

He was found in a box along the side of the road. The Vet believes him to be around 4 weeks old. When he was found he was dehydrated and had a very bad belly ache. He has been treated and getting long very well. Haden is on puppy food that has been soaked in formula and LOVING IT. He loves to be cuddled and loves to be with you. His nose looks like a little black paw print. He is all white and has that wonderful puppy breath. He will be up for adoption soon. If you are interested please go ahead and submit an application from our web site. He will still be in foster care for another 4 or more weeks.

Buddy was the victim of abuse.

It was reported that he was thrown out of a truck by the owners uncle.  When that happened Buddy sustained an injury to his leg.  Buddy hobbled around and tried his best to survived while the residents living in the area watched him grow skinnier and skinnier.  Several of them began leaving food for him and actually put some weight on him but he would not come to anyone until finally he just gave up and when his most dedicated caregiver turned to leave he followed her to her vehicle and took a ride to the vet.  To everyone's dismay Buddy's leg had to be amputated.  He is a gentle, sweet natured, loving 1 year old.  He had grown use to only having 3 legs so this surgery has not hindered him at all.  He will be a great dog for someone.  He is believed to be an American Bulldog/Boxer mix.  He has beautiful brown eyes that show no hint of the suffering he has endured.

Update 12-31-09

Did everyone read THE DOMINION POST today? On 1-B they have a story about Ms. lady and her 3 puppies. These are the ones that was found in freezing water and starving. Brandy Brubaker from the Post did a great job...thank you!! Here is a updated picture that Matt the foster Dad just sent a few minutes ago and he said they are doing good.

This story is VERY disturbing.

A call came into Pet Helpers today about a mom and 3 puppies. A young gentleman found them last night and spent a great bit of time warming towels and trying to get them warm. Two of the puppies were sitting in ice cold water on the street and could not

even get up. The Mom and her puppies are very emaciated as you can see from these pictures. This is probably one of the

worst rescues I have seen. Can you imagine this mom watching this happen to her babies and not able to do anything to help them.

This DID

NOT happen over night. Whoever had these wonderful dogs and abandoned them for the unknown needs to answer for this. This mom is the

sweetest girl for what she has been through and that says nothing about the darling babies. While they were with us at the Vet tonight they were started on high protein can food as well as dry food. It was so

sad to see them eat, like they had to savor every bite. Even as hungry as they were not one of them growled or showed any aggression. We are reaching out to ANYONE who can foster one of these darling and give them the love they have NEVER HAD!

This is our sweet BUICK! This photo was taken just 24 hours after his surgery.  He is still in the hospital under Vet care and  is expected  to have a full recovery.  Even after all he has been through he was up to spending a little time with Lisa and Terry on Saturday.  He even had a few kisses to give.  He is a very sweet guy and will be a wonderful addition to the family who wants to adopt him.

Pet Helpers, Inc was called by a local Vet to assist a family that could not afford the care of their dog that was hit by a car.  The family has several other animals and did not want to / could not put the expense into this 9 month old pointer mix.  His name is Buick and he will be having a very expensive surgery to fix his broken back leg that was caused by the driver that just drove away.  He is a very young dog and expected to make a full recovery.

Pet Helpers, Inc has taken this wonderful guy into their care not knowing where we will get the money to pay for his expenses.  We just knew that we could not allow a pet to be put to sleep just because of a broken leg, not when we are being told that it can be fixed and in a few months he will be up and playing.

Buick wanted to show is good side also!

We are asking this community, pet owners, pet lovers and any other rescue groups to help pay the $1000.00+ bill we will be incurring for Buick.  This is after a large discount from the Vet who will be doing the surgery.  Joe and Dana Gribben has offered to help us in caring for Buick at Creekside Kennels once he is released from the hospital.  Pet Helpers, Inc's Board Members will be visiting everyday to also help in Buick's care.  We will also need volunteers that would like to help us in Buick's therapy and to just spend some time with him since he will have to stay very quiet and will have to be crated a good bit of his time for the first few weeks.

If you can help Buick in anyway it would be greatly appreciated.

Pet Helpers, Inc is a non-profit organization and we are able to help the animals we have by donations and fund raisers. We get no funding by the city or county.

Thank you in advance for anything you can do for Buick.

The Reunion of Isaac and Kyuubi

The reunion took place at Creekside Kennels in Winfield. When Isaac got out of the car he walked slowly toward the crowd of people wanting to catch a glimpse of his reunion with Kyuubi. Once he was greeting by Pet Helpers, Inc Board Members he walked toward the back side of Creekside Kennels where Kyuubi was waiting for his owner. As soon as Isaac seen Kyuubi a huge smile came over his face and he said "Kyuubi come here" you could not have held Kyuubi back even if you tried. He raced to Isaac and as you see from these pictures the tearful reunion.

Isaac along with 2 of his friends drove none stop for 3600+ miles. " We only stopped to gas up and get coffee" on of the friends said. Isaac was so excited about getting here all his thoughts where about Kyuubi. "It's like, honestly, it's amazing," said Rodriguez, in disbelief. "I mean, all the way across country and they found him, and they found me."

Beatrice Dotson found Kyuubi in Prunty Town and knew she had to help him. She said he was limping and very skinny. She feed him and contacted Pet Helpers, Inc and that is when Kyuubi came to Fairmont and was seen at Hickman Run Animal Clinic by Dr. Ebert. Crystal a Vet Tech at Hickman Run scanned Kyuubi and was totally amazed when it was found there was a chip and that is how Issac was found.

Pet Helpers, Inc Board Member Terry Burtez made the call to Isaac which was not a easy task since the number had been changed. Once Terry was able to leave a message for Isaac a return called came soon after. "I called Terry right away," said Isaac Rodriguez, who received Kyuubi as a gift on his birthday. "I was like, "Oh my god, hello?' Like, right when I heard the message, I called. I was really surprised, really happy."

"For him to love his dog so much, to drive that far and come that far," said Terry Burtez from Pet Helpers, "It's heartwarming and we're just happy he and his dog are back together."

The microchip is an electronic tag the size of a grain of rice.

It is a computer readable microchip which can be painlessly inserted under the skin.

Your pet's identity is recorded for life on a national register.  If your pet ever gets lost, he or she can be traced back to you by animal shelters or vets with scanning equipment.

The chip is made out of inert materials, and has no power source, it is electronically inactive until activated by the scanner. then it returns to its inactive state once scanned.

Encoded on the chip is a specific code number unique to the pet which is registered along with details of its breed, sex, age and  the most importantly the owners name, address and telephone numbers.
